The Role: WorldQuant is seeking an exceptional individual to join the firm as Data Strategist. The person in this role will conduct research into new datasets that will be instrumental in the generation of new trading signals (Alphas). A successful candidate will gain a strong understanding of how we currently use data, but more importantly, conceptualize how to use data in creative and innovative ways. To ensure we are aware of all potential new sources of valuable data, this person will establish relationships with vendors, participate in industry events/conferences (both domestically and internationally) and conduct in-depth research via internet searches, industry software and hardware tools, white papers and industry publications. Additionally, this person will act as a content screener to filter companies and data opportunities as well as manage the full life-cycle of the data procurement process.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Degree in a quantitative, technical, or business-related discipline from a top university
  • 5+ years of experience working with data and data vendors
  • Knowledge of the European and Asian data landscape, financial instruments, data marketplaces, industry lexicon and a quantitative investment process
  • Experience negotiating terms of service and contracts (particularly data licensing agreements)
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form
  • Ability to interact effectively with numerous internal teams and stakeholders
  • Mature, thoughtful, with the ability to operate in a collaborative, team-oriented culture
  • Motivated by the transformational effects of data
